How to Properly Measure Your Seated Height

  1. This measurement and Seated Thigh Height below require the use of a stool or other device with a flat surface.
    1. The height of this seat must be entered under Shop Data on the Setup form before using this method.
    2. An inexpensive kitchen stool with a height of about 600 millimeters will work well.
    3. Fitting Seat Height (height of the stool) can be measured using carpenters square, placing the short side of the square on the top of the seat and the long side of the square against the wall. Place a mark on the wall under the bottom of the square and measure the distance to the floor.
  2. Place the stool as close to the wall as possible and centered on the masking tape.
  3. Have the subject sit on the stool, back to the wall with the spine flat against the wall.
  4. The subject should sit erect but relaxed.
    1. The glutious maximus (butt) should not be flexed as this will influence the measurements.
  5. Place the short side of the carpenter’s square gently to the top of the head with the long side of the square extending up the wall.
  6. Place a mark on the masking tape under the bottom of the square.
  7. Mark this point “SH”
