Carbon FiberWe are proud to announce the newest Frame to the Formigli CollectionThe Asiel RF will be our new top of the line frame, our flagship product as it represents the culmination of 20 years of the advances we have made in our technology, materials used and manufacturing process. The Asiel RF is built using a unique method that will only be used in this frame’s construction. TECHNICAL The composite used to build the RF, is a carbon fiber IM 600 with tensile strength equal to 48,000 pounds. Utilizing a special nano technology, Formigli optimizes the pre-impregnation of epoxy resin into the IM 600 carbon fabric resulting in a final product that is 20 percent lighter and 27 percent more rigid and responsive. COMPOSITION FABRIC Layer: 6 layers + 3k cross (the upper level, the visible one) Laminate: layered uni-directional and bi-directional - oriented 12K Resin: Epoxy Fiber: Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) Fabric: Preimpregnated fabric yarn (long fiber) molded with the vacuum sealing technique and chemically bonded at 120 ° C. MECHANIC PROPERTIES Tensile strength R. 220 Kgmmq. Modulus Elasticity. 38 000 Kgmmq. Fatigue: 100 million cycles / 1400 MPa maximum load Physical Specific weight of carbon at 18 ° C 1.86 kg./dm3 (30% resin.) GEOMETRIC DESIGN The ASIEL RF was conceived with the vision to obtain a frame with maximum tensional stiffness. This is achieved through our researched tube design that optimizes the stresses of torque. Looking at the rear of the frame, you can notice a significant drop in the rear vertical tubes on the support of the seat tube. This solution gave the frame more rigidity in the rear, thus obtaining a greater responsiveness in wheel traction. This drop can be felt especially in hills and in sprints and in even more noticeable in low gears. Looking at the center of the frame, the bottom of the seat tube near the bottom bracket, the tube has a larger cross-section, supporting the weight of the cyclist on a broader base. This gives the frame greater resistance and higher performance under stress. We decided to build the Asiel RF with an internally integrated seat post with a slight rise of the seat post support and compensating the eventual rise with internal carbon plugs, shaped like the tube. The steering fork tube has been increased to a larger diameter with a 1 1 / 8 tube for the upper and 1 1 / 5 tube on the bottom. This solution has allowed us to have a greater circumference to support the frame, providing an increased stability of the bicycle, as well as reducing the vibrations that are formed especially in the downhill at high speed. SPECIAL DETAILS The rear brake is internally routed inside the tubing, and operates without any kind of friction because we developed a system of routing with the use of unidirectional material which is removable, allowing the flow of the cable without the help of internal ducts. This system protects against any kind of moisture coming into contact with the cable. The customer has the option to choose between using an Italian bottom bracket and a BB30 bottom bracket. These possibilities are included in the price. PAINT SCHEME To give an identity to a frame of this caliber, we felt it appropriate to set it apart from other frames with its paint design. We achieved this through the effect of chrome silver coupled with white, red and black: the result is an incredibly engaging image.
